Online Workshop

2 December, 2024 6pm – 7pm UK

Suggested Donation £5

ONLINE via ZOOM

In this workshop, we want to give you an easy list of resources and a tool kit for spreading the word about your art across different media, particularly digital. In other words, this is a workshop about (*gasp*) – MARKETING.

As an artist, it’s important to be able to explain what you do in clear, concise terms. At the same time, often your strength and intangible uniqueness is not easy to put into 140 characters. In this workshop, we want to confront the dehumanising history of ‘marketing’ and ‘personal branding’ (the world is not a marketplace, and you are not an object) and offer some shortcuts to make the mental gymnastics easier, as well as offering practical tips to help you share your art with the world. We’ll cover:

  • Creating ‘boilerplate’ language about your work and your project, that you can readily use on every application and press release like your favourite condiment.
  • Website best practices
  • Social media best practices
  • When to spend on advertising

We aim to give useful resources based on our years of experience doing it ourselves, without the budget to hire a marketing agency. Also, we hope to give unbiased advice based on what works for us, so you can be informed to try these tips yourself!

Join us by RSVPing via email to receive the Zoom link.

ABOUT US

Based on the artist’s circle we held this year and general feedback, we found that a lot of artists feel they need help with the producing and management aspects of their work. We are a small independent company with experiences of Edinburgh fringe run, festival runs in London and UK tours. We have always made work at a small scale and discovered efficient, sustainable and cost-effective ways to share about our work. One of us also used to work in marketing, so that helps!
